I'm starting my engine rebuild tomorrow and have a few questions. I already have a performer intake and a 600 cfm edelbrock. The motor is going to be a 347 and does anybody have suggestions on a cam and heads?
I don't want to go with aluminum heads, I would like to go with the World cast iron heads? Does anybody have any experience with these? How much better would these be over stock 1978 302 heads? I would really like to get in the 350+ hp level. It is going in a 1968 F100, I'm unsure what gear is in the rear but it originally came with a 240 I6 and I'm going to beef up the C-4 that is in there.
The truck is only going to used for going fast. Thanks
get the performer rpm or air gap manifolds cause the regular performer isn't really better than stock. Iron doesn't warp like aluminum so that is sound. you getting 180s or 200s? And I like the edelbrock 600 but when you done I would look at a edelbrock 750 for your build. I think the heads would make 40 hp over stock on your motor. to bad the 1978 302 was rated 140 to 150 hp. i would call comp cams on the cam issue though.
I don't know if they will fit or not, but you could do some investigating on the GT40 heads. I hear they flow pretty good and produce good power. They are plentiful because they were ford production. They were used on Ford Explorer V8s, I think.
