Correct on WA; they add for weight on trucks and they add agent fees bringing a typical pickup to around $40. But it could be worse............not too long ago we were paying 2% of high book. No more $400+ tabs .
Let's see, 2% of high book = $400; High book = $80K
What kind of truck are you driving that cost $80k?
I have heard that Wyoming's registration costs are very high, something like $500 or more. Is there anyone here from WY?
Yep, I am in Wyoming. My plates were $68.72 this year. No place close to 500.00. If course it is 12 years old
Cars are based on value of the vehicle (my 74 javelin and 69 cougar are both around $30.00/year)
Trucks are based on weight and age. The f-150 always seems to run about $70.00 and my GMC 1 ton runs around $90 (15 years old though) I am pro american made, not necessarily brand loyal, wife has a Dodge.
But...since there is no state income tax and gas usually runs low pricing, I can live with the plates fees.
Let's see, 2% of high book = $400; High book = $80K

Jskufan is correct; it used to be $200 for every $10,000 of high book value. And even when they were well depreciated, the state somehow managed to feel that they were worth much more than they could be sold for.
$62.50 for 2 years in NY, I reg. my car trailer here in Virginia with a one-time permanent plate for $62.00> In NY it would be $62.00 for each year...."no brainer" there...
Here in Utah it costs me 37.50/yr for my 85, but i have a friend that has a 2003 f250 psd that pays just over $400. On newer vehicles you pay according to what it's worth and older vehicles are a straight 37.50 a year.
