What do you think?

I am looking at buying a 2001 F350 4x4. It's got the 7.3 with the 6 speed. It's a regular cab and chassis. It is an XLT with buckets and the console. It's loaded with everything except leather. It's got 43K on it and it is a bank repo. It looks like it's in good shape. The interior is mint but I have not run it yet (the dealer was closed when I went through last night). I will be able to test drive it but the dealer is only going to put a sticker on it. He's not putting any other warranty on it. All 4 rear tires are bald and it makes me wonder if it is beacuse there are 43k on them or if the guy beat the snot out of it because he knew it was getting repoed. Everything is straight on it. I am not sure what the guy used the truck for. I will have to buy a bed for it ($700-$1300 locally) and replace the rims (I don't need a dually). It has the plain grey steel dually rims on it now. The dealer will put 4 new tires on it. He has no price on it now and he can't sell it until April 6 when the bank paperwork is finalized. He ussually sells repoes quite cheap. I know the guy and he's a straight shooter and doesn't lie about his vehicles. He'll even hold it for me if I want it. Kelley Blue Book says $27,540 and NADA says $25,525. That's assuming the truck is top notch. I don't really want to pay over $20,000 especially if there is no warranty and I'll have to but a bed and new rims. What do you giys think it's worth?

Negotiate with them and I'm sure you'll come to an agreeable price. Does he have the maintenance record on this truck? Becuase 10 to 1, I'm sure your right about the previous owner beating the truck up at the last minute. If he is more than willing to hold it for you, he is probably more than willing to cut back on the price a bit. Give him a call or head out in person, let us know what happens.
