A Mileage delima

I am currently in the middle of a frame up restoration of my ’73 Camper Special. It currently is equipped with a 360 with a 2 bbl 2100 carb. I am thinking of changing the innards to a 390 and was wondering what are my options for the carburetion. I am happy with the hp that I current have. However, with the gas crunch hitting high gear I would like to try to increase my mpg from 12 to anything better but it would need to be cost justifiable. I understand that anything other than another 2 bbl will need a new intake. Any suggestions?

Sorry, but 12mpg sounds like the upper limit on economy you can reasonably expect from a truck equipped as yours.

I have a stock 390 with a factory holley 4bbl and I can get 11-13mpg. If you want to go 4bbl you can get a factory cast iron intake and go with either a edelbrock or holley.

I get 13 if i keep my foot out of my 390, i have a 4x4 cam, headers, performer intake, edelbrock 750 carb and a MSD coil.

Ive gotta stock 390 in my 74 250 and pray for 12mpg!!!! Cant seem to hit the double digits though

Using an Edelbrock intake, and a 650cfm 4bbl with vacuum secondaries, you should be able to hit 13-15mpg, IF you keep your foot out of it.
