330 motor
Crazy like a fox
They made the huge mistake of trying to establish in the Northeastern US and were told by the mob-- which had a lock on the moving business-- that it might not be a sound financial move to be a competitor to their sewed-up racket. EZ-Haul ignored the friendly advice, which they soon regretted.
In one weekend ALL their trucks located in the Northeast were rented. When returned, the engines were worn out, radiators leaking, clutches shot, transmissions whining. Although no convictions were obtained, it was clear that an organized effort had been made to strip the rentals of their good parts and worn out parts substituted in their place.
That was the beginning of the end for EZ-Haul. U-Haul's 330 engine was a solid maneuver to keep a similar thing from happening to them.
Crazy/not crazy. Some of you may be familiar with the short-lived competitor to U-haul called EZ-Haul. Their color scheme was green and white and they used Chevrolet trucks.
