my 2000 has superchip, dual exhaust,ca intake, mass airflow.......its runs great but im having trouble deciding what to do next.....I want the biggest bang for the buck, ideas please......
Bang for the buck would be cam gears, LSD, 4.10 gears, NOS, P&P heads.
Cam gears can get you a gain of 15 rwhp/15 rwtq alone. Obviously we all know NOS... 4.10 gears with an LSD run around $450 - $500 brand new from Mike @ Texasmotorsports . I think I am going to order 4.10's this month from him.
Biggest absolute bang for buck is definetely Nitrous Joe. For 500 bucks you can get 100 more horses at the track. Nitrous is fun but also time consuming and the power is not readily available anytime you want it, so there are some drawbacks. It's only useful when you anticipate a race in advance.
4.10 gears, also for around 500.00, will get you 3/4's a second in the quarter. Plus make your truck much more driveable around town. Downside is less gas mileage with more rpm's on the highway.
If you start getting into internals, ie cams and lifters, your looking at alot of work and reliability with daily driving deteriorates.
If it came down to the NOS or the gears, hmmm tough choice, but at least you can use the gears every time you drive and you don't have to keep filling the bottle.
Changing your gears will have no effect on pulleys at all.
4.10's will shorten you up pretty much and make your first gear a tree stump puller. Shifting would occur at the same rpms but will be at different mph. 4.10 gearing is an extremely popular upgrade amongst racers and off-roaders. I did shave 3/4 a second off my quarter by dropping to 4.10's, but your gas mileage WILL suffer.
Your RPM range will be the same, it will just accelerate through much faster. You top speed in the long run will be shorter but not by as much as you'd think. Besides, how often do you drive 120 MPH?
Oh, and pulleys really depends on you. It's a good mod if you don't mind loosing a little everyday driving.
Ahhh, the H-Town pictures. GOD TOM, YOU JUST REMINDED ME HOW LAZY I AM! j/j
Actually, I have the camera in my room, I just haven't had it developed yet...LoL
Umm, I'm not sure it will work even if I get it developed. I seem to have bad luck with the picture hosting thing. OBTW, I didn't actually get a picture of any person...I don't think.
Yea definately. You'll probably need to walk me through the process. Hey, do you have ICQ Instant messenger? If not, get it, and I'll give you my name and number and crap...that way we don't have to do it via email.
ICQ is just a type of instant messenger. Go to www.icq.com or something like that. Just download it and set up your name. It's free and it's the best there is!
