I see there's a service bulletin on the 2001 ranger #17255.
which has the summary "HARD START/LONG CRANK WHEN COLD OR STUMBLES/SURGES DURING DRIVE-AWAY. POSSIBLE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES P0171, AND P0174 OR P0172 AND P0175. *TT "
mine has this stumble, always has. anyone know what the dealership would do / charge for if I brought this in?
I believe these are all lean/rich codes. Ford would likely start by replacing all of your O2 sensors. Always changed them myself, not sure what they would charge. If your not getting the codes you should also consider plugs and wires.
I'm not sure about that TSB that you mention, but there is another TSB that was issued a few years earlier that discusses the effect that a dirty MAF sensor can have on a Ford engine. Some of the symptons of this problem can also include "Hesitation/Surge on Acceleration" and possible trouble codes P0171, P0172, P0174, and P0175.
I also see that there's a service bulletin for my 1999 Explorer 4.0L 4X4- TSB# 03-9-8, issue date: May 03 which has the summary "Emissions-MIL ON/EVAP System DTC's Set". My check engine light has been on some time now. so yesterday I ran my new code scanner and received PO455"
I am also wondering what the dealership would do or be required to do, based on the TSB and my problem.
