HELP!!! Tranny problems

I have this really loud sqealing noise from my tranny. It kinda sounds like when a belt is really lose; but it's metal sounding. It does it when it's in drive or reverse, and when pressure is applied, ie. giving it gas. It also slips a little bit and when it's slipping, the motor bogs down real hard and the truck will not speed up. I did not drive it when this started, so it is sitting at home right now. Is it my torque converter?!?

oh yea, it's a '89 5.8 with a C6.

with me i have found that when my torqe converter went i never noticed but i did notice when my trans went out. Now on the safe side i would say replace both of them. I found that a junkyard/salvage yards have what i need and then i rebuild the trans works better than a new one
