Are the Q-jets still that great a carb if you have to use an adpter for a square bore intake?
BTW it will be for a 79 Bronco w/400 (mild off-roading and street/interstate use).
I'm running one with an adapter with zero problems(except setting up the kickdown). You might consider swapping to a cable for this. An aftermarket intake with an open plenum would probably be better than the factory 4-hole, but mine is working great.
Haven't had any experience with the truck avenger carbs, but I've heard good things about them. On the other hand, I heard good things about the old standard Holley carbs, and you couldn't run fast enough to give me one of those pieces of crap. The aluminum would be better used making beer cans.
