I am getting ready to order a 4x4 Lariat SCAB black exterior with black interior. Do you guys think I should wait for the 2005 or just go with the 04'. Does anyone know what they will change for the 05'? Thanks a ton!
If you have the patience, wait for the '05. Even if no obvious changes are made, later model years always have the fixes that the first model year had problems with.

I agree. It's killing me but I'm waiting until they're acepting orders for the 2005's.
You might see some additional colors or options if you wait, but you'll be behind on the enjoyment curve. I love my truck! Wouldn't want to be without it for even one day.
Let's see, for the '05 the 4.6 goes to 300 horsepower, and the 5.4 goes to 375. Manual transmisions will be available across the board, and the cargo boxes will be adjustable in length by the customer, from 4.5 to 8 feet. Then, in January, you'll be able to get an inline 6-cylinder turbodiesel at no extra charge.
Oh yeah, they're cutting prices by 20% on everything.
This is Jeff's evil twin, now signing off..............

I would go for a job 2 2004. Ford is cheapening up the truck a little for 2005. They're in the process of testing welded steel lower control arms (LCA) for the front suspension to replace the 1 piece forged aluminum arms currently used. The last few designs have either failed in durability testing or crash testing, but they're being persistent to make the change.
I also know they are changing the frame a little to save a few pennies per vehicle. Less hydroformed sections and removing some of the reinforcements near the a-pillar area are two of the things I know of.
The above is true, but this may not be. I heard that with the introduction of the Lincoln pickup that F150 Lariat will be loosing some of it's luxury options. I don't know which ones for sure except for the power passenger seat.

Well, you stand a good chance of great deals (incentives/financing) on '04s for the next few months, until they close it out and start taking orders for '05 builds. And if you buy off the lot, you'll probably get even better deals.
Whatever you do, get in touch with Jeff Clark (aka 1956MarkII) on this (or New Truck Buyer) forum(s). He's an FTE sponsor and can most likely work some magic (when he's not enjoying that 3rd martini for lunch).
There were (and still continue to be) 1st year production problems, as you can see going back in the history of this board. Not everyone experiences these (I'll tell you mine is a CHAMP and I LOVE having it every day!), and the later '04 runs will have many of the fixes already incorporated.
Then again, look at the post "Buy NOW", and that could sway your thinking too....hmmmm.... I wonder who will control the oil once China is rebuilt in 20 years??
Anyhow, if you can swing it, I would buy now cuz as Mudlord said, you're already behind the enjoyment curve!
I have to agree...you should buy now. Although some buyers are experiencing problems, the majority of us are enjoying the bejezuss out of ours. I know I have 1500 miles on mine with no problems A-TOL. I'm glad I didn't wait. Those that buy are the CHARTER members of the NEW Ford F-150 fraternity!!!!!
I swear I never get to drive my truck, but somehow I've put 4000 miles on it. No problems, let me add. Somebody must be driving it while I'm at work! Maybe it's just that I don't have nearly as much time behind the wheel as I'd like. Good thing summer's coming - should finagle a long weekend or two for some trips.

How many times do I have to tell you guys: they're rusty nails,, NOT martinis!
And Don, I'm impressed: placing the period outside the parentheses. Obviously, someone that paid attention in grammar class.
