Question Overhead wiring

I have an overhead console with computer from a 2000 Exp that I want to install into my F250. The wiring for the console is not preinstalled. With the maintenance c/d I know where to splice into the wireing. I was wonder if telephone wire would work. It is color coded and already in a conduit. I know that the model rr use it for running trains and it carries 12DC. I also was wondering what is the best way to splice into the other wires?

If the telephone wire is solid and not stranded wire, then the vibration of the truck will eventually give you problems with the wire breaking.
What kind of stuff is in the console? Small lights and possibly a trip computer would be ok, but if there are any cigarette lighter sockets or high amp loads, the telephone wire won't be big enough. If you have some doubts about how much current the computer draws, you could possibly use two of the telephone wires together to handle the load.
