I was hoping someone could tell give me some info on the 98 or 99 Mountaineer overhead console I just acquired. From what I understand they are the same from 98-01. I am going to install it in my truck. I will be splicing these connections and running my own wire, since my truck does not have the wiring harness for this. What I need to know is the wiring. Can someone tell what the color of the wires are for the different functions of the console. I need to know at least the color for ground, switched power, constant power, thermometer sensor. Any input is appreciated.

Did this with an 01 Explorer once. What year is your Mountaineer? I think there are supposed to be eight wires on the console according to another forum:
Red/Blue = Dimmer
Blue/Yellow&Blue/White = Temp sensor
Black = Ground
Black/Blue&Green/Orange = Dome Light
Gray/Black = Vehicle sensor
Yellow/Gray = Main power
I know there's a sticky in the Ranger forum about installing a Explorer console into a Ranger. They might have more info there. Or if you do google or yahoo, I htink you'll find a few installation tips out there...
Thats exactly what I was looking for. These consoles are the same as that 96. I think the only difference is the display lights up in green on mine and blueish color on the older ones. They look identicle. Thanks again.
