Hello, I am brand new to this forum. I bought F-250 6.0 Crewcab on January one, 2004. Beautiful truck! 2700 miles on it while I was pulling snowmobiles down a steep hill, I let off the accelerator pedal to prepare for a 40 mph turn. Went to turn and could not turn truck and brakes would not work well. I finally realized the truck had died after looking at Tach. Barely avoided headon with two oncoming vehicles. At the bottom of hill, I restarted and it died again. It worked after that. I took it to Ford and they reflashed and they were extremely surprised it took all of the upgrades since it was a Nov 03 build. Other than that, they scratched their heads and said, "It happens, must have been a glitch."
Anyone out there have an idea of what could have possibly happened.
I bought my truck on 28 Oct 03. Since that time it has died on me six times. It was in the shop for the third time yesterday. The first incident resulted in a rollback to the dealer. They repaired the "chafed" wiring harness. Now it simply cuts out while driving. Second time in the shop they could find no codes. They told me to get some Stanadyne fuel treatment and sent me on my way. It kept dying in traffic. I have come very close to being involved in wrecks twice. Yesterday they told me they could still find no codes and the reflashed the computer. My guess is that it will keep dying on me. They simply don't know what to do. I think I'm going to have to wait for a TSB. It's so pathetic that it's laughable at this point. Of course if this condition results in injury to someone I'll be forced to sue them until the dealership will be known as "Sterno Ford." I certainly hope your problems are over. Good luck.
