I have the predator installed on the 65hp setting. Is it normal for it to shift very hard when cold? If not what can I do to fix it. I only notice it when it’s cold, so that is probable the problem. If anyone has any input, that would be great. Other then the hard shifting, that predator rocks.
How long has the new tune been installed.. It will take up to 5 warm up/driving cycles, for the PCM/OBDII system to re-learn its/your shift strategy.. Mine shifts "a little" solid when cold, but normal when warm..
This is perfectly normal due to the line pressure increase the Predator gives. When the tranny is cold, the fluid is thicker so you're more likely to see the issue, but its far better than the erractic shifts during heavy throttle prior to the two most recent updates.
I plan on ordering a Predator today. I just want to recover the mileage and performance that I once had. I can't seem to find it but what does Diablo Sports say about compatibility with furure flashes from Ford? If I load the 65HP program and get let's say 3 mpg increase will I expect to see similare increases in what Ford does in the future?
My Ex actually shifted "more crisply" when cold before I got the predator...
Lot's of fluid to warm up down there before it is at the correct operating temp...
(actually fun to chirp the tires with moderate accel. in the morning )

And since the predator can be updated online, I would think:
1) Diablo can updated the predator to account for changes..
2) any changes Ford makes will just be saved within the Predator when it replaces the Ford tune...
And besides, I presume the Predator is a completely new "program" to control the computers on your truck....
independent of the ford program...
not an addition to the ford programs...
which is dependent on what the ford program does...
This should be a bigger concern for all the modules taht are added after the computers.. since they do modify the params of the ford program rather than replace it...
But don't wait due to this concern - get the predator NOW so u can enjoy the POWER and mpg increase !!!
I got my Predator yesterday. I uploaded the 65HP program. All I can say is you can feel the difference the very first time you touch the accelerator.
This thing flies. After driving it about 100 miles, there was a Ford 350 with a 7.3 tricked up that jumped on it coming away from a traffice light. I went from 0 to 45 while the other was going about 25. I was absolutely surprised!
Where do you get support for the Predator? I have a few questions. I have a P0600 PCM KAM error and a P1000 error OBDII test incomplete. I think the OBD error was from at the end of the upload. It says to disconnect the tuner and then has "continue". Well if you disconnect before continuing, goodbye.
NO,
if it tells you do disconnect... it's done....
Go thru the cycle again now that you are familiar with it...
set it back to stock, clear all the codes, and reinstall...
when you first boot the predator... the KROS logo comes up and then it will tell u the release number of the software... if the last 3 characters are not r34... then you can get the latest version from the diablo website @ w<!-- -->ww.di<!-- -->ablo.com
"Factory HP" is the title for the original factory flash that the Predator grabbed from the PCM and tranny. It retains these codes so you can restore them back to stock before Ford services it. Note that if the truck gets flashed when in for service, then you use the Predator to modify the truck, the latest codes from the truck are loaded into the Predator's memory. What I do not know is what would happen if you try and restore the "Factory HP" tune into a newly reflashed truck, would it error out or would you return your truck to pre-flash status? Maybe someone has tried this.
I think the object is to upload the factory program from thr tunerwhich resets the tuner. Then when the truck gets flashed, the next time you connect to reupload your performance tune, it would download the latest flash as the factory HP.
