First let me say you guys are GREAT. Just looking thru the messages has helped me on quit a few problems. Anyway my problem is the check engine light. I have replaced the EGR Sensor and EGR Selenoid as well as the fuel filter, gas cap and a few rotted vacum lines. I read from someone about the DFPE Sensor but Ford tells me there isn't one on the 93, 5.8.
Any help would be appreciated!!!!!
GET A MANUAL OR CODE READER SEE WHAT THE ON BOARD COMPUTER CAT TELL YOU.
IF THAT DOESN'T HELP POST CODES ON FORUM SOMEBODY WILL KNOW WHATS WRONG. I SPENT A COUPLE WEEKS DIAGNOSING MINE.
SOME ERROR CODES AREN'T RELATED TO PART THAT HAS FAILED.
IT CAN TAKE A WHILE.
MY HEADACHE WAS A CODE FOR OXYGEN SENSOR THAT WAS CAUSED BY BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR.(FUEL PRESSURE TO HIGH NOT ABLE TO LEAN MIXTURE OUT AT CRUISING SPEED).
I am getting a tester this weekend from my brother. Hopefully that will help. The oxygen sensor was my next item to replace, thanks for the info on the fuel pressure regulator. Now at least I have something else to look for. I will post my findings when I get this figured out.
Thanks Again
The '93 has only one oxygen sensor, and there is no DPFE on it. You can pull the codes with a paperclip yourself; read this: http://www.broncodata.com/tech/codes.htm
