Check engine light....B4000?
Thank you for any help,

Probably is the DPFE sensor, but while your replacing the DPFE you should also check the hoses running to and from the DPFE and the EGR Tube and make sure they aren't clogged, pinched or burned, etc. Look up the P0401 code here for more possible causes: 1995+ Ford OBD-II Diagnostic Trouble Codes (PDF)
The DPFE on my '98 4.0L looks like this plastic one, although they also can look like the metal one below it, too.

The DPFE is easy to replace, two screws, a couple of vacuum hoses and an electrical connector. Yoy want to get the plastic one as the replacment unit, inasmuch as they last longer.
An overview of the Ford EGR System can be found here: Ford DPFE/EGR System Summary
I have seen. I looked at all the hoses and exhaust tube when
I replaced the EGR valve. The guy at Autozone ran the codes
for me and recommended replacing EGR valve. I guess that is also
a common problem. Autozone does not stock the Pressure sensor
and none of the local discount auto stores handle that sensor.
NAPA has one, but it is 55 bucks. I know that has got to be cheaper
than the dealer. I'll probably stop on the way home from work
and pick it up at NAPA. I've had good luck with all the other
parts I've purchased from them. I just happened across this
site running a search on google for EGR problems and it has
already been a blessing.
Thanks for your help and the great pictures.

Take off and show them the number on back of the sensor! They can trace that and need that SPECIFIC number to help you.
I fixed the two DPFE hoses when I got my code 332 on my 94, for low EGR input. Didn't have to go as far as a new sensor. Lucky.
yesterday and picked up a new DPFE sensor and when I removed my old one
I did notice alot of corrosion at the hoses connections and up in the sensor
itself. I removed the hoses and ran a piece of wire through them and cleaned
them out. I went ahead and replaced the sensor due to all the junk up in it.
Ran great to work this morning and it is an hour drive...approx 45 miles.
Looks good so far, but I guess time will tell.
Thanks for all the help from everyone and God bless,
Fishhead
