does anyone know what kind of headers will fit a 91 F150 4x4 supercab, with a 351 windsor equipped with gtp-40 heads. i thought the mac equal lenght i had on the 302(same truck) might but i looks like the plug boot will hit the headers. any help thanks?
P.S. are the ceramic coated ones worth the extra money? and will they help cut down on burned plug wires? the 302 was very hard on wires. thanks
The ceramic coated ones are nice for curb appeal and to keep rust away. But a good heat paint will do the same for the non-ceramic headers.
As far as finding those headers, try Jegs or Summit. They should be pretty easy to find. I think they have some shorties for like $160.
thanks, i talked to a speed shop they recomend the ceramic coated headers, another one says the header wrap is better, just can't win. just trying to save the new wires.
Header wrap is crap. It creates the ideal enviroment for decay. It holds the water and road contaminents against the tubes the whole time. Ceramic coating is best. I know my Bassani ceramic coated headers are guaranteed against rust through. They also maintain their color throughout their life. Header paint is not comperable to ceramic coating. The coating reduces underhoop temperatures, which results in a cooler intake, which equals more power. What kind of wires do you use? I havent had any trouble with the Motorcraft wires. What makes the GT-40p heads different from the stock units?
Have Tried Several Sets Of Wires, At Present Using, Motorsport, I'm Gonna Look For The Taylor Wires With The Small 90 Degree Boots And Hope, I Guess I Make Up Some Heat Shields Using The Plate Aluminum I Have, I Belive The Gt40p Heads Have The Plugs Coming Out At A Different Angle Than The Stock Heads, Anyway I'll Keep You Posted. Who Knows If This Engine Runs The Way I Hope, I May Spring For The Extra Dough And Get Some New Coated Headers. Thanks For The Input.
