Question Add a leaf or Spring pack or shackle??

I have an 01, F250, 4x4, PSD and I would like to get other peoples opinions and feedbacks on which type of system is the best way to go to level out my stock truck. I'm currently running 285s on it and I don't invision running anything much bigger for now, however, they rub a little on tight turns. Additionally, I want to get rid of the front in slant that comes with the stock truck. I'm interested in raising it only about 2 to 3 inches so I have been searching the leveling kits on line and ebay, however, I'm just a bit perplexed with the different types. I'm very interested in hearing peoples thoughts and real experiances.

I went with the ORU reverse shackle kit on my '95. It raised the front 3", and improved the ride immensely. It's a little more money than just an add-a-leaf, but I'd do it again.

I had an Offroad Unlimited shackle reversal kit installed on my truck and it gives about 2 1/2" of lift. Your truck however is already set up in that fashion. Shackle will be the cheapest way to level your truck, and not the best way, longer shackle will most likely make the truck wander on the highway. The add a leaf will be the best in terms of cost and ease of installation combined, there is a very recent thread on this subject. If you want the best ride, a new spring pack is the ticket, but will also cost the most. I would def stay away from the longer shackles, they only give you lift at one end of your spring therefore changing the angle of your kingpins/balljoints and effectively changing the handling of your truck. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information so far I definantly do not want to create more problems with other componets by leveling it.

Many guys have gone with the add a leaf and had good results, good ride, no effect on alignment and such. Although I understand that the trucks are designed the way they are to be level with a load. I ,like yourself, don't like my truck to look like a dog with it's nose sniffing in the weeds. We'll leave that up to the chevy guys.

I'd go with the following options if you don't want to stiffen up the ride:

-Edge 2" mini spring pack. No increase in spring rate and does not require the use of new shocks.....although a better shock like the Bilstein 5100 will improve the ride over the stock shocks.

-RCD 2" hanger and shackle. No increase in spring rate and I'm not sure if it requires the use of new shocks.....although a better shock like the Bilstein 5100 will improve the ride over the stock shocks.

-Edge 3" heavy duty spring hanger and full replacement boxed shackle. No increase in spring rate. Does require new shocks (the complete system includes Bilstein 5100s that are valved specifically for the SD).

A adjustable trac bar aka pan-rod bar is also a nice piece to get since it makes install easier on all three and assures that when properly installed your front axle is centered but isn't "required" to install any of the above setups.

With a F-250 I'd just go with either the 2" Edge or 2" RCD........if you went higher like with the 3" Edge you'll probably need to swap to F-350 rear blocks to prevent the rear of the truck from looking lower than the front.

Hope this helps.
