Need Help Please ?

This after noon the family and I were going to visit the grandparents and when we were coming to the freeway entrance the truck died, Put it in neutral and it started back up. A few miles down the road for a split second the engine quit and then restarted, we drove the 30 miles, stayed a couple of hours and came home. On the way home it did the split second engine cutout and restart but that was it. The truck does some tin=mes have a rough idel, don't know if this is relavent. I am guessing it might be an intermittent problem with the CPS maybe?

Would greatly appreciate any help?

Thanks,
CLK

How did you check the fuel pump pressure and where did you find a fuel pump for that price?

you are more on track with the cam sensor. the signal will drop out thus causing a stumble or complete engine cut out. If a scaner is available check for codes P0340 or P0344. These are both cam sensor codes. If either one is present change out the cam sensor.

Ford calls it a "CMP Sensor" and International calls it a "CAMP Sensor." There is no such thing as a CPS. Don't tell International you have a Power Stroke, tell them you need a "CAMP Sensor, part # *********, for a T444E." Sometimes they give Power Stroke people a hard time for buying International parts. Also, sometimes a bad CMP Sensor does not throw a code.

EDIT by FTE:

Ford Part #'s: Before engine serial #375549 F6T012K073A
Serial #375549 and above F7T012K073A

International Part #'s: Before engine serial #375549 1821720C98
Serial #375549 and above 1825899C93

Well I Checked the fuel pressure it was about 60 psi, the service manual I have says it should be around 40-60 I assume the book is correct. I went to the international dealer and told them I have a powerstrokediesel and neede a cam position sensor and the guy was very nice, we talked a while told me how much Ford was a ripoff and sold me thesensor for 90 bucks. replaced the sensor and we'll see how she runs this week. Thanks for the help.
