Not to worry. The problem was reportly cured on any engines built after April 15, 1999. This date is on the left bank (drivers side) valve cover. My build date is April 28, 1999 and it sounds very clear at 24,000 miles.

Thank you for resonding. Now all I have to worry about is my 1998 motorhome 
. But no problems yet.
I thought this was a good motor when I decided on it over the V8 but now I am wondering if I made the right choice.
