Well, yes and no. I do like the big rig look, but haven't put stacks on my truck. I didn't want to give up the bed space. I know a few guys that have stacks, and they sound great as well as looking good.
I did it on a 54 Ford F100 and it was painful to do since it meant pulling the box back about 8" and then extending the bumper and rear axle (so the box fit on top of the wheels squarely). I am not sure it would require the same amount of effort on a newer truck but I for one will not do it again. Even though it was cool... If I did do it, I'd probably cut right through the bed instead of moving the bed back. Much easier and less work to accomplish.
just wonderning: after looking at that second pic. cookie, wouldn't you want to have the Y pipe pretty close to the center between the two pipes? Wouldn't the setup pictured blow more smoke out of the right stack because it would have a shorter distance to travel?
On the few that I've seen in person I didn't really notice one stack smoking more than the other. You can't center the up pipe, driveshaft is in the way.
Guy i work with put a single stack up the pass. side.
He drives a 95 PSDjust cut a hole in the corner of the bed and ran it straight up.
Ill try to get some pics.
As someone else said, my buddies truck is white and the soot builds shows up fast.
Also the stacks i have checked out are the same as a muffler.
Im wanting to run a straight pipe.
Just my 2 cents.
Hey Guys- I put a 6" stack on my truck a while back. Just one out behind the passenger side of the cab through the inside of the bed, funds didn't allow for true duals or I would have put 2. It really sounds good, I love to roll down the back windows and listen to her purr, its a 6speed so when you really get after it and shift gears to turbo really sings. The 6" looks cool with black smoke bellowing out I will try to post pics.
There's a guy here in Tucson with a real nice set of stacks. He extended his frame enough to give him room for the stacks and heat shields. The exaust pipes go vertical right at frame height but are pushed to the edges of the cab. The shields start at the bottom of the cab qnd go all the way to the top of the cab. Originaly he just pushed back the bed but it looked funny offset on the wheels. I have to get some pics for you guys. Really a sweet big rig look.
