Adj. fuel pressure reg. ??

Hi, I have a 1989 Big Bronco 4X4 W/347 stroker kit installed , mass air ford motor sports, mac short headers, Comp is 9.2 to1 stock head's, roller cam - lifter's- rocker's , 24 lb injectors, & a adj . fuel reg. K& N Filter, Stock 235/75 r15 tire's stock tire's , & gearing AOD trans .

Question ???? I now get 10-12 mpg in town could I play W/ fuel reg. to increase fuel mileage ? I would like to get 15 -19 mpg when I got it 1991 stock, I drove it to Philly & it got 18-20 mpg running 70mph up I-95 From D. C. Or what could I do to get 2-3 mpg more . Than what I am getting now I have not finished tune-up after engine was done My son's Truck engine blew, & he broke in my engine Later on I am going to put it on a dyno to see what H P it has . I use it daily driver Pull a 16' trl. & haul mower's rider's & push For pickup & delv. I 'm a owner of a small engine shop . Machinist By trade but the cold weather kill's me so I no longer work on the Rail Road .

Thank's, Don

Is the computer calibrated for the injectors? You could be running rich due to the bigger injectors. Pro-M recommends not putting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on mass air engines because the computers are tuned to a certain pulse width and a certain injector flow. When fuel pressure changes, that also changes the amount of fuel the injectors flow for the same pulse width. However, with the larger injectors, it might not hurt anything to drop the fuel pressure some until you can get a chip or air meter calibrated for 24 lb injectors.

I thought that is what the Mass- Air I instatted did It came W/ a new computer & harness that I installed ? I don't remember the pressure I adj. to What should it be adj. to ?????? I do have state smog insp. it almost did not pass I had to play w/ timing to get to pass but did re adj. after it. When I called comp cam's I gave them the weight of my bronco, gear size , tire size explained what i was using it for & what I wanted to do . Told them what I had done to engine & thay custom built a camshaft for me. The cam kit I was getting came W/ 10.5to 1 but comp. cam's said to use 9.2to1 so the bearing's would not beat out of the bottom of the engine. I built it for tourqe not HP. It now has more than any 351 I have driven. it's a pulling monster.

Any Help is needed !!!!!

Thank's Don

The MAF conversion is calibrated for 19 lb/hr injectors as far as I know. With 24's it is injecting more fuel than the computer thinks it is, and it's probably running rich.
