i have a 1979 f150 with a 460 and i was just wondering two things one how bad is little bits, not alot, just little bits of copper in the oil filter. And what would be a ball park figure of oil pressure for this engine thanks
are you sure its copper? man i really dont know how the hell copper could get inside of an engine. now little bits of stuff is normal its carbon buildup (i think) but ive neve heared of copper in an engine. has anything strange happend to your engine or anything like that?
That what I was thinking. But I dont want to be the guy to tell you your bearings are in your oil filter. Thats just doesnt sound like a nice thing to say. Thats why I dont look, I dont wanna know. I would be crying over the rebuild ahead.
they do and i found out from my mech to day that i should just run it until it wont hold oil pressure then do a full rebuild i think for original bearings that are 26 years old they lasted preaty good
I'd do the rebuild when you notice the oil pressure start to drop. If you let it go too far, you can spin one or more bearings, ruining rod(s) and the crank. You also risk throwing a rod. Just wait 'till you notice a decline of hot oil pressure on the highway. That will be your signal to rebuild.
its ok if i spin the bearings a distroy the crank i no a kit that includes every thing all i need is the block and im already putting new heads intake and carb on it and do u no what the oil preassure should be
