i pulled the heads off my 96 5.8 and found my problem.the reason i didnt have compression on #1 was a bent valve and pushrod and a broken spring.could this be the knock i was hearing on acceleration?the pistons look good, the cylinders look good and there dosent appear to be any damage to #1 piston.according to the ridge at the top of the cylinder there is a few thousandths wear.do yall think i need to go all the way to the bottom end?cause i really dont want to.i didnt pull the dist.and dont want to mess with timing if i dont have.
on another topic will a 351 efi intake fit a 302 and will a 302 bolt up to the e40d
the last time i ran the engine it had good oil pressure according to the guage,i inspected the #1 cylinder closely this evening and found no damage. i spun the engine over and all cylinders seemed to have full strokes(no bent rods)the good news is both heads are being rebuilt for 160 plus parts.i thought that was a pretty good deal
yeah i think so too, there is nodamage to the lifter,or cam gouge so the spring collapsed the valve bent and caused the rod to jump out the lifter and bend
