Ok, I'm thinking about dumping my 4X4 in favor of a 2x4. I feel I can make a better street rod. I see this truck being tubbed and lowered. What is the opinion of the board on the best model for this.
I see you have decided on an older truck. That is cool. I opted for a 77 longbed, because it seems to be rare to be lowered. Lots of people have a mid 70's Chevy shortbed that is lowered and I see lots of parts available for the mid fifties Fords
I want to be different, not crazy out of mind graphics with gull wing doors and 26"tires...
I want to be simple, low, red and CHROME...
Good luck with your build... Check out my truck as it is now and the photoshop look also!!!
Ive got a chopped and dropped '53 F100 and a '74 4x4, and i just purchased a 75 F100 2wd. The early trucks end up costing alot more money to get the same result, its all the little things that need to be updated because they dont work with newer parts. I love the look of the '70s fords just as well and in the end you have a better driving more usefull truck than screwing around with ifs and such. I think there are more, better parts around for the '70s trucks than the '50s trucks, maybe not from restoration suppliers but at least its possible to get some decent bodys for decent prices. Don't get me wrong, I love the earlier trucks but if i was gonna do it all over, I'd have one lifted '70s 4x4 for a daily driver and one lowered '70s 2wd big block for cruzin' in the summer.
