Welp, looks like I've finally done it
My back has been killing me for months, along w/ my neck.
I've been to the doctor several times... he puts me on pain pills, etc.
I went in today and he's finally sending me to Physical Therapy
Im on all sorts of meds at the moment
Blood Pressure, Depression, Sleeping Aid, Sinus Stuff, and 2 muscle relaxers... More drugs than Ive ever taken in my life
And I hate taking medicine
But looks like I did it this time
Anyone ever been to Physical Therapy for your back?
If so what all is involved?
I have done physical therapy for my neck and upper back. I got whiplash as a young boy. They did wonders for me. It also helps that my mom is a massage therapist . The key is to not get discouraged. It takes time to make things go back to the way they were. You will probably be given certain exercises to do, and you have to do them! If you dont, youre just wasting youre time going. Have you ever been to a chiropractor? Ive been going off and on since my accident, and they work wonders. If you dont mind me asking, how exactly did you injure youre back?
Fell off a roof, broke my L2, healed, kinda, then a couple years later, head on car collision, without the seatbelt(DUMB).
Its kinda fun, rewarding, boring, and painful. Yea, all those things. When your bored, your about done. I enjoyed physical therapy for quite some time. The electric muscle stimulator thing they hook you up to is awsome. I went full power 15 minutes once. They found I had changed the settings myself, and about threw me out. No sense of humor I guess.
Doing therapy as you speak. 3 times a week for lower back. had 2 surgeries at the L4-L5-S1 area. First at 19, #2 at 31 years of age. I'm 42 now and sometimes I feel like I'm 62!! Been on 40 mg od Oxycontin a day for about 2 years.... Need to get off of that stuff!!
Therapy is good. Work out stiff ham strings, then do abs and lower back excercises on Nautilus machines. Absolutely no free weights. Actually starting to feel good again..
Good luck Andy!!
Therapy three times a week consisted of 10 minutes with a heat pack on my lower back to loosen everything up. 10 minutes of microwave heat massage, and then 30 minutes on the rack. The rack anchored my upper body and then pulled slowly on my hips. It sounds painful but actually felt wonderful.
been there did therapy for 3 years for my lower back i crushed 2 discs in my back lifting a tranny and then i cut my finger off so i had to go for that as well all in all my records show i have broken 23 fingers 18 toes cut off 2 fingers burn my eyes welding lost a finger nail to a disc sander i caught myself on fire twice i drained my gas tank and then used my grinder to make some new brackets and the sparks hit my shirt and instant flames.
i didint read through all the posts but after a car accident i had to go to PT and Chiropractic and ill tell ya this it works and helps alot. yeah i still get pain sometimes, but i find that occasional exercise and a chiro practic visit, and a daily hot shower and im pretty fine go with it and be well
