Exclamation Weird electrical sensations/ eye problems

Well, this is a long shot but maybe someone has experienced this. It's very hard to describe, but please bear with me...

For the last few months I've had random bouts of electrical sensations throughout my body. From my scalp to my toes, nothing excluded, they range from "pins and needles" to electrical type or cold sensations, sometimes just pain. Sometimes, when I step out into the heat, it's mild all over a hand, most of the time it's very localized (like a pin *****) and seems to happen for no reason at all. The first bout was very intense and lasted for over a week, now it seems to come and go. They are seemingly completely random most of the time, one one my scalp then a few seconds later one on my calf, than maybe a finger next, a shoulder etc, they seem to mostly happen in my hands and feet though. I've been to 2 doctors and neither think their is anything serious, all my motor skills are excellent my pupils react fine. They don't think it's MS...

I also had a strange thing happen 2 weeks ago when my vision got "swirly" /wavy in the middle, ever since I've had lots of floaters and the "squiggly wigglys" (kinda like sperms without tails) you can see when looking at the blue sky have been greatly amplified, I can see them mildly even inside my house now when looking at a white wall. The swirly stuff happened once more 2 days after the first episode, both were after being in the heat and getting into my truck (scary) with the A/C. I've been to two optometrists, one who is overqualified and basically an opthamologist, both said my eyes seem perfect and explained the phenomena, but couldn't tell me why it happened/ is happening for sure. One dilated my pupils the pther used some new fancy machine tha takes pictures of your eye. I think this had to do with getting too hot, but wanted to throw it in just in case, they also mentioned low blood pressure, hypoglycemia, stress and dehydration.

I've found only a couple people who reported the electrical sensations in the same way I'm experiencing them that didn't have to do with medicines, none of them found any answers even after multiple MRIs or seeing multipe specialists. I've also been to the chiropractor in case it was back/nerve related (unlikely, given it's all-over). I don't currently have health ins. (what I had wasn't worth the contract it was written on) and I can't afford to just keep hopping from place to place. I've been on a hypoglycemic diet for a couple of days and it seems to be getting better, but it's too soon to say for sure. This has really been freaking me out, and is really disrupting my life. Any info appreciated.

/don't drink much, not at all in a month. no drugs, legal or otherwise, in a long time, rarely even an aspirin.

I have suffered with those same symptoms for years.

Sounds like the neuro-transmitters are firing off.

Have you also had Major muscle spasms in you arms and legs causeing them to shoot out without warning?

Do you feel you are getting weaker everyday and have trouble sleeping?

Do your legs spasm and feel achy when you are trying to go to sleep ?
ie: Restless Leg Syndrome.

Yeah, sometimes I have spasms, even more so as of late. Not a whole lot of them but one night I had 3 or 4 while trying to go to sleep, mostly in my legs. They don't seem to happen consistently or often (yet anyway) and aren't nearly as distracting as the other stuff.

I can't say that my legs have felt achy, but my arms will after doing any heavy lifting, even if it's just a short time. I really haven't done a whole lot since all of this started though.

It seems the heat has been bothering me much more this year, especially since this started up. I can't do the work I was doing (ranch hand/construction), and I can't spend much time infront of the TV, computer or a book because my eyes start messing with me. I'm having a hard time finding ways to spend my time and I'm really going to have to find some new work to do soon, I can't figure out what that will be.

I had also been asked if I was maybe exposed to any chemicals. I eat organic food almost exclusively, I don't use pesticides around the house, I don't even use Lysol. I clean with Baking soda/vinegar, heck even my soap is organic (Dr Bronners).

Do you have many dental fillings (mercury) Mil1ion? Any other stuff that may involve mercury, lots of fish etc.?

I have had tons of Mercury filling but most now have been replaced with amalgam.

My suggestion ! Get an appointment with a Rheumatologist and get checked out for Fibromyalgia.

My lenghthy time suffering with this disease was overlooked by the medical community for 5 years .

My doctors now think it is developing into a mild case of MS and that can't be taken lightly.
In my case I have had a continued breakdown of muscle to bone which has played havoc with the neuro-sensors .

Here's a great link to read.

I've heard that a lot of 'floaters' isn't necessarily bad, but that a sudden increase should be reported to an MD. I don't know what causes them, though.

I'm not a doctor but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once. My advise is to see a doctor.

My wife had the wavy vision across the center of eyes once years ago. Her doctor said it was indicative of a TIA , a mini stroke. If happens when a small blood clot passes thru the brain and fortunately disolves before causing damage like a major stroke would. Some people have had TIA's and fluff them off as just overheating or stressed out etc. Some have them bad enough to scare them and they go to the ER. My wife takes a aspirin now, if ANY wavy vision appears. I have the "floater" in my weaker left eye. My eye doc said it was harmless and was just a ganglia of dead cells in the core of my eyeball, caused from looking at too many Playboy mags as a teen. ...

The pins and needle ***** thing is what my wife is taking meds for now. After taking care of her dying father and mother who has alzemeirs , BOTH at the same time for over two years , then followed that up with a daughter -in law that said her husband ( my wifes son) was going to kill himself when she left him, all that stress left my wife with the "pin and needles stick" syndrome....

Her doc told her that her body had used so much of her stress relieving chemicals over the last 3 years , there was not enough left to handle any more stressful situations like a normal body could. She was getting stressed out and the random needle ****** she felt in her shoulders, arms , legs, were nerve endings firing painfully. Basically panic attacks. So, now when she has to go to funerals, weddings, long drives in traffic, hot body contests, etc, she takes her little pill and gets no pins and needles...

All of this may not even be close to what is happening to you. Just posting a similar scenario I live with. I agree with the others. See another doc for a checkup. jmo

I've been to 2 doctors, 2 optometrists and a chiropractor. None could find anything wrong, one time my blood pressure was a little low. I was also tested for hyperthyroidism. Basically my only route left, that I know of, is to get an MRI which will cost me ~$1K+ (not including an intitial visit with the opthamologist or other specialist). From my research so far this has proved useless for everyone with my symptoms, not to say I won't do it soon anyway but I don't have the $$ to throw at this carelessly.

Having a floater or two is normal for aging.
I have 3 in my left eye and 3 in my right.

It makes for intersting reading, especially on a computer screen.

I've had one floater for as long as I can remember, now I have many more than 50. The new ones are mostly little individual spots, the old one is a line that wraps around itself (almost like an loose knot).

I always thought it stayed in the same place, but I've recently realized if I jerk my eye to one side or the other I can make them move. These are opaque, now I also have a few that are dark and will glide through my whole field of vision even with my eye still. I also have streaks that will flash through my vision, some white some dark, all pretty fast (Kind of like a shooting star). I also had vertigo when I closed my eyes the first couple of nights.

Mil1ion, have you gotten used to the electrical stuff? I've already gotten used to the eye stuff and pretty much accepted it, the electrical sensations are another story. I've had them keep me up all night on several occasions. If it was in one spot, one type of sensation or atleast consistent I could handle it, but it's driving me crazy. It will even go away for 6-48 hours sometimes only to come back even stronger (at first), just as I get used to normalcy again. The last time it recurred it felt like someone barely wiped a cold wet paintbrush across the side of my face/ear (without feeling the brush, just the cold), then it went on to be in individual spots. I can't imagine years of this...

When it first happened I also noticed my left arm going numb while wearing my backpack or a seatbelt, hence the chiropractor thinking. As far as I know a pinched nerve wouldn't do this especially on my scalp and face, it would also be more localised as far as top or lower half of my body.

Thanks for the advice and the listening. Hearing a doctor/optpmetrist say there's nothing wrong with me has been very bittersweet. Even if it's bad, I just want to know what it is.

I have my share of eye floaters; way too many to count.

It, at times, can be a distraction.

However, I look at it as my personal eye show; especially when I close my eyes and face the sun.

As far as RLS, constant pain in both legs; especially when I'm in bed.

In my case, it's the "getting old" and "overweight" syndrom.

tdister, 27? I'd try to have it looked at.

I had a great uncle that had similiar problems, went to all kinds of Drs. had CT and MRI scans couldn't find anything wrong. At a family reunion he mentioned this to a family member who is a kidney specialist "Dr." He put him in the hospital that afternoon, two days later they operated for an Aneurism in the upper neck-lower head. Also he saw flash bulbs every now and then. Symtoms happened mostly when going from a store into the hot parking lot. Its a miracle it didn't burst, and kill him.

Mil1ion, have you gotten used to the electrical stuff?

No, I am in a constant small voltage running through my body state.

The cause is small Muscle spasms from the muscle deterioration I have experienced since 1984 when I first got sick.

I remember freaking out my youngest sister one time at their house.
I was sittin on the couch with both my arms out laying on the top of the couch in take off position when all of a sudden they both spasmed upwards simultaniously.

She freaked

You never mentioned your age,any injuries along the way, and natural concoctions you are taking.

I used to take imipramine to help we sleep but my body got used to it dso now I;m back as stage one again.

Being obese doesn't help I can tell you that but health problem caused the obesity problem.
I was solid muscle in December 1983 5' 9"and weighed 163 lbs. and could wheel 40 cubic metres of concrete by myself no-stop if I had to.

My health really started downhill in 1985.

Now, somedays I can't even lift an empty coffee cup off a table and shaving is a real chore.
