Hey all. I have a 20 gallon air compressor, and I have a attachement for sandblasting. Well I am wondering if there is an easier way for this to work.
Its rare for any sand at all to come out, and its very annoying, because you can only do a small bit at a time. Is there any tricks you all know? I know 20 gallon isnt very big, but it still works sometimes... thanks let me know..
I'm guessing by a 20 gal. compressor you have maybe a 1.5 to 2 hp compressor whichis a typical homeowner size. What you could be having is insufficent CFM or cubic feet per minute of flow and not enough pressure. Aa sand blaster of the type that has a siphon hose thatgoes into a bucket of sand should have 60 to 80 psi constant to work well. Also you need clean dry blasting sand to work well. Even then the suction type blasters are iffy at best. I have seen the type that are gravity feed from a hopper that work well but you have a limited time of use. The best type is a pressurized vessel work best but require a larger horse power compressor. These can be very aggresive so you might want to use a softer media like walnut shell media or plastic beads.
I have 35 gallon 6.5 hp compressor and I plan on sand blasting a set of heads to clean them up, Im sure it'll take a while
as our 80 gallon tank barely keeps up
Ok, plan A (making a gravity hopper on top of the feeding hole) failed. Plan B (wetting the sand) also failed.
How can I get this thing to blow sand. Why in the world did sand directly pouring into it not work....?????? anyone? nothing was blocking the entrance...
only reason i can see plan a did not work is yar air is wet. ya need a water seperator on the air line so that no water or oil is in there air. when ya compres air the water found in air condenses and comes out the line. try putting a water seperator on the line rite at yar blaster gun and try gravity feeding the sand in again. also turn the psi up as much as ya possibly can.
How do you turn the psi up? All I have is a off/Auto switch... Where would it be...
I have a 20 gallon campbell hausfeld air compressor..
Also, what is the thing called that takes the water out, is this really the problem? Doesnt seem like it is. Oh yea, the gravity feeder did not have wet sand, it was only dry sand. then i tried wetting it.
Water in your air lines will make the sand wet
When you compress air it makes moisture
You need air/water filter on it.
As for the campbell hausfield
there should be 2 gauges on it, one shows the pressure in the tank, the other in the hose, there should be a dial there w/ the one for the hose. turn it up
What is a water setperator exactly? Do they sell them at home depot or whatever. I might jsut end up renting one. Or just trying to sand the damn thing! ah
