At work watching it....hmmm.....the first part still, (basic) funny as .... hmmmm....hahahaha the whole shop is cracking up. I remember some of this stuff from basic
I had a VHS tape of that, and it was so wore out at that exact spot that it wouldn't play past it. I think it's where people just stopped it and rewound the movie at that point.
Probably one of the better (IMHO) of the Vietnam era movies. It explained the fears and frustrations that young men were going through during that confusing war. Vietnam was certainly not America's proudest moment. Not only did we not adequately support our troops when they came home but our government did not adequately support them during the conflict; not with proper equipment or with good decision-making and leadership. IHMO
anyone like R Lee Ermy? ( the sargent ) he played an AWESOME role in the new Texas chainsaw massacre ( 2003 ) and you can see him on Mail Call on the history channel.
"what the hell is that private pyle?" "is that a JELLY DONUT?!?!?!"
That is one of my favorite movies ever. We didn't study Vietnam in school (I graduated in '98) and I learned a whole lot more from the movie than I did in school.
