Hippiecustoms, I don't know what exactly the limiter is on these trucks, so I'm surely not saying you are wrong, but I know that on newer mustangs and such, the ignition is cut first, and then if the rpms still keep rising, fuel is cut at a higher rpm as a failsafe limit for keeping the engine together.

erm i admit i slighty wrong in what i said!!! its not just the injection it cuts sometimes its both,
in reply to the VW question some of the older VWs and Volvos have a limiter in the rotor arm inside distributor that works on centrifugal force so when it reaches say 5000rpm it earths the spark
