Ford Differential Covers

Dumb Question 101 -

I want to buy differential covers for my 99 Ford. I see alot of you guys have pictures and the differential covers are nice and shiny - How do I know which ones to buy? Here is the page I was shopping on.

I mean what size do I order - my back one has 12 bolts - is that all I need to know to order? I think its the stock differential gears.

You need to know what axle you have. You should have a Sterling 10.5".

Either way, it's the same cover for both the Sterling 10.25" and 10.5".

You have a 10.5 inch sterling or visteon rear. (Company changed name so i've seen it called both)

For the front you have a dana 50 but you probably won't be able to find a cover for that since most people list a dana 50 as the ttb 50 that's under the older F250's. You should just order a cover for a front dana 60. It is the same thing outside. Only the internals are different.

Doesn't the 50 use a ten bolt cover and the 60 a 12? Or the other way around? I'm probably wrong again.

The 50 and 60 are identical in all respects from the outside as far as I know. Also he says his has 12 bolts and only 50's came in 99's which is what he has.

beware of the polished alum covers, igot some a couple of years ago from above mentioned place.
after time i noticed grease/dust build ups on the out sides, keep looking for some type of leak on my truck.
seems that the cast for the covers were to porious, and seep !

might be why they were at a discounted price, it took to long to determin the cause/or prove it.

Same thing happens with stock covers anyway.
