1950 Vin#

Can anyone tell me from a Vin# what year this pickup is? I think it's a 50. VIN#F1R2SR10204. Production code 17A1143. It's a 3 speed on the column.

Well Here's my shot at it. VIN#F1R2SR10204

F1 - 1/2 ton
R - My reference lists D (6cyl 215) or E (8cyl 239) as the options
2 - 1952
SR - Somerville, MA assembly plant
10204 - Production Sequence.

Hope this helps.

Joe has all the info except the engine. My copy lists the 239 8 cyl OHV engine as the 'R' code for 1952.

The production code of 17A1143 - your truck was built January 17th and was the 1143rd truck produced there in Somerville, MA.

MTFLAT you know they never put a Y-block in a '52. It would be a FLathead V-8.

Hoo-boy, it's a good thing you're looking out for me Nathan! Can't believe I did that, but I remember going back and inserting OHV........duh.

Only one thing I can say in my defense; they did use Y blocks in 52 - just not in the small trucks. The F7 had a 279 and the F8 got the 317 OHV. 52's also had OHV 215 sixers too. Goofy year, huh?

And to make it more confusing the 239 was an OHV but not until '54
