Seems like you need to invest in a "lightweight" right shoe and get rid of the lead weighted one .

Im with Kikko on this one. Im sure Consumer Reports or the like have tested and compared radar detectors.

Buy a dozen eggs and place one under the gas pedal before you leave home.

If you break the egg, watch out for a ticket

All you are doing is becoming a statistic for insurance companies to raise the rates for your age group.

in addition to getting lighter right shoes id invest in a lawyer to get ya out of it if you can as while fines are stiff, the cost of insurnace is very high and two tickets for the same thing aint gonna be good for that!!

How can a Lawyer get me out of this? I broke the law, now I will have to pay for three times, the price of the ticket, insurance rates, and Third the wife. Just waiting for the wife to start yelling about it.

And here all these years I thought that rotten egg smell was comin from the tailpipe! And remember whatever radar detector you buy, The police have what is called Instant on technology which means, even with your detector, you wont Know he is there until it is too late.

How tall are your tires? It can actually throw off your spedometer. For a long time, I had a broken spedometer cable. I mounted a tach onto my column and clocked my speeds (hubby paced, and informed me of mph).

I love the egg under the pedal! Or, tell them you had a muscle cramp in your calf, and stretched your leg out.. LOL.

Leave earlier, that's all I can think of.

I gave up on radar detectors long ago. I still own one but never use it. You will not outsmart the cops . . . no matter what device you have. This is what they do day in and day out so they know how people act, they know about detectors, how they work, etc. The only thing my detector ever did was provided a false sense of security. Oh, and it also alerted me as to when I needed to get out my license and registration. That beeping meant "You're busted".

That beeping also meant there was a store closeby with an automatic front door,or that trucker you just passed has one hell of a booster on his c.b.

ivanribic said it all, they just give a false sense of security.

Sometimes they mean someone close by is using a microwave, which could be handy if you want to crash a party and steal their food.

I still drive a bit faster than I should but have not received 1 ticket in the past year and a half, since I ditched the detector. I put 29,000 miles on my car alone last year so that's saying a lot.

Here's something to consider. If you drive 10 miles at 60MPH (let's say this is the freeway speed limit) it takes you 10 minutes to get to your destination. If you speed up to 70MPH to make the same trip it takes you 8 and a half minutes. Is 1 minute worth the $$ a ticket and insurance cost? Not unless you've got one hell of a deadline. I like driving fast but I figure there's nowhere I have to be that bad.

Well, let's see, I just went through this a few weeks ago.
Not sure about your state or city, but I got a 64 in a 40 zone.
Of course my attorney is always on retainer, years ago, I thought that would be a good idea the first time I had to appear for some "incident", but any how, lawyers pretty much all know each other, even the district attorney's that are "for the city".

So basically, you pay your lawyer a ton of cash, to talk to his buddy about pleading your ticket down to a non moving violation.
Of course you will have to pay a larger fine, mine happened to be 6 times a parking ticket which ended up being $150, but no marks, insurance company never finds out, so nothing in the future is affected.

All in all it cost me $450, but I would rather pay now than pay later, my license is clean (hard to believe) and my insurance company is none the wiser.

The judge could care less, there looking for money for there city or town, by pleading it to a parking ticket, and jacking the fine, they get to keep the money for themselves (town or city) and not give a portion to the state...

Invest in a good calibration of the speedometer and then use it. BTW, and I can say from my own experience, Yeti is offering good advice. However, if you have a history of speeding tickets or others, the prosecutor will have less reasons to make a deal with you. After all, insurance rate increases are part of the punishment.
