Blown Engine
Does not having any catalytic converters or mufflers cause your piston rings to burn up and make your engine junk? Also how can worn piston rings cause blowby, shouldn't worn valves or valves not seating properly cause that?

No not having cats or mufflers won't "burn up" and engine. Blowby is referring to combustion gasses blowing by the piston. When the rings get worn you have a bigger gap between the piston and cylinder wall allowing combustion gases to blow past the piston which pressurizes the crankcase. Now that the crankcase is pressurized instead of at a vacuum you will have oil blowing out your breather filter instead of air being drawn into the motor through the breather filter. If the valve seals are bad then you will be "burning" the oil that gets sucked into the combustion chamber around the valve stem, with blowby you're blowing it out the breather. If you have a blowby problem, before you go tearing your motor apart replace the pcv valve first. This is a common problem that leads people to think they have blowby.

Wait a minute "go bucks" why am I helping you? Just kidding. Looks like you are about to start down my path, the path to a rebuilt motor. 
You might want to consider a step up to a 351 while you're at it. A little more money, a lot more power. Sorry to hear about your recent loss (engine).
