You mean the ones with the spring collar retainer or the duckbill type? For the spring collar type, you need a special tool for it, available at any parts store. It slips up in there to disengage the spring, then the lines slide apart. For the duckbill type like I have on my fuel filter, just pop the plastic retainer out with a screwdriver. New retainers come with the filter. With either type, you need to push the lines together a bit before the retainers will disengage.
It requires a special tool that wraps around the line and pushes the locks away from the line. Just about impossible without the tool---unless you like buying new fuel lines. Be sure to spray some carb clean into the recess to clean it before trying to disconnect.
good tip on the carb cleaner.
I bought one of the tools, kind of built like pliers & the hinge in the middle broke. Just bought a heaver tool today. Interstingly, I was unabe to buy one at the Ford house.
Don't know about snap-on, but I did find what appears to be a real gen-u-wine official name and part number on one of my ALLDATA pages. Of course the Ford Parts House sez they dont have them.

I got mine from a local tool store, it's made by Lisle, part number 37000. It includes tools for 5/16 thru 7/8" lines. Most mechanics I worked with had the same set.
