Auto hub problems...

Auto hub problems...
Today I was attempting to drive through some deep snow in 4wd when I heard what I would describe as a whirr/buzz, followed by a VERY loud clunk from the frontend of my 99 SD. I ceased forward progress (much to my dismay), and got out for a look. Nothing looked out of place, but I twisted the hub dials to the 'Lock' position just to see. The truck still has 4wd, but now I can't get the arrows on the dials to line up with the dots on the housings to show whether you are in 'Lock' or 'Auto'. The problem is, I'm not sure if they ever did? Has anyone had a similar experience, and do your arrows line up with the dots? Thanks for the any input!

Auto hub problems...
I don't know much about the '99 and up, but I know that on older trucks, auto hubs were a conveinance, but they were a time bomb as well. They were good for the wife when the truck was new, but by the time you get your hands on it, it is ready for some WARN or MILE MARKER premium manual hubs. The ones that say SELECTO on them seem to be okay as well. On the older HD trucks, they were around $160.00. Lighter trucks were about half the price. I've no idea on a newer one. Good Luck!
