Has anyone out there experienced a heavy thud coming from the rear when you accelerate from a stop. It always seems to be there although it varies in magnitude some depending on how hard I brake when coming to a stop. Sometimes, there actually seems to be two thuds. I can feel a similar thing as the truck settles during stopping. The dealer say it is spring wrap and it is normal. I remember spring wrap from my earlier years when we installed traction bars to stop wheel hop and to keep from breaking springs. This seems different. I have checked for loose bolts, spare, etc. and can find nothing. I would appreciate any insight.
Thanks, Daisy. Hopefully, this is the same thing and easily fixed. Some dealers seem very ready to call any problem that shows up "normal" for the truck and, therefore, acceptable. It has been interesting trying to get their attention.

I am trying to find my paperwork on this repair. The fix for it came from Ford, and I know it was an improperly torqued yoke in the drivetrain. When I find the paperwork I will reply.
I just wanted to post that I had this same 'thud' problem and my local ford dealer fixed it with no problem. Although, my F350 has been in for 7 other repairs plus recalls and tomorrow I take it in for a broken leaf spring. The sad thing is, I bought this truck for its great looks, I dont even haul anything or tow anything with it and I have 1 broken leaf and 1 missing leaf from the drivers side. I am not happy at all with this purchase, I honestly wish I could say I was.
Sorry to hear about your problems. I also have a few issues but, except for this particular problem, nothing major. Do you recall what the dealer did to fix the "thud"?
I wish i could say what the dealership did but at that time I took my truck in for the 'thud' noise as well as 3 other noises. The rear end 'thud' always sounded as if I had a heavy object in the bed and when i took off it would be the 'thud' you would hear when that object hit the tailgate after it slid across the bed liner.
I mentioned that 'thud' along with a clunking in the front end as well as a 'thud' in the front end after starting the vehicle and letting it warm up for about 5 mins. They determined that front end 'thud' to be the power steering pump. They replaced it and its fine.
The Work Order reads like this even though they were trying to identify a front end problem.
