Can anyone tell me if the after market mass air flow sensors are worth getting into... Currentyl Masterflow exhaust, throttle body spacer, K & N filter and Superchips tuner.
Yah a good maf is worth 6-8 rwhp, I would use a Lincoln Navagator 80mm MAF, it's a direct replacement, the ford unit's are much better then the aftermarket ones, you know that you have to have a chip or programmer programmed for the MAF right????? The truck will run like crap without a reburn, talk to Ken maybe he can help you out a little, I would say a bigger MAF will give you twice what your throttle body did.

A 3 inch MAF sensor? Please explain what you are talking about, SMiller?
Well it goes by the inside size, I don't know what 80mm comes out to but it is probally around 3in. if not bigger. You are going to need to research this, I don't think a lot of people have done this, and don't forget YOU must have a chip to run the new maf, with a chip\maf\air box that is properly tuned you WILL get over 20rwhp!!!

Just wondering about the sensor - mine is about the size of my thumb.
So you want to know about the sensor inside of the MAF? Well if you get a aftermarket MAF you will reuse your stock sensor, if you get a navagator MAF it will come with the sensor already, simply unplug your old and plug in the new. The navagator sensor is pretty small, it still lets tons of are get through the MAF, unlike the stock 65mm that I replaced on my car.
Am I missing something???? I told him he needs a burn't chip to run the bigger maf, don't tell me the SD's come with 80mm MAFs already? What is it your biting your lip about? Share the info......

No, you're not missing anything, it's just that he might not understand what you're talking about. He was asking about the sensor only...unless I'm missing something.
Matt, I think we've milked this cow enough. SMiller was talking about one thing and trannysmoker was asking about another.
SMiller was probably talking about this: http://www.teamjdm.com/id33.htm
or something like it, but trannysmoker was asking about the sensors. A big difference, wouldn't you say?
He threw me a curve when SMiller said 80mm. I figured he must have been talking about the whole assembly (intake tube and all) and not just that little sensor, but I didn't know for sure.
Why not say MAF assembly (meter) with sensor? That ought to clear it up...maybe?
Wow, this thing is starting to get confusing, yes I have researched this, it seemed like this guy wanted a bigger maf for more power, he told us of the other things he had done and seemed like he was ready for a bigger maf for some more power, I don't know what he's talking about the sensor, why would you touch it??? The only thing I would ever do is clean it. Trannysmoker why don't you tell us what it is that you want, we seem to be having a problem understanding this.
