Mixed up the axles, oops.

If a certain novice were to hypothetically get the rear axles mixed up how would that certain person go about figuring out which is the right and which is the left.

I certainly wouldn't do something like this myself

Stick one in and if it doesn't go all the way in, try it on the other side...

Is it a 9"? If so, the axle shafts are the same length.

Unless they happen to be from a van application.

They are originally from the truck, so I guess I didn't mess up like I thought I did. I replaced the gears and installed a Detroit No-Slip. If all goes as planned it will mate up nicely.

Since they are already mixed up, you could always stand them next to each other and see if there really is a length difference. Just to be sure.

I measured both the other day and didn't notice a difference. That caused me to scratch my head a little considering most people told me not to mix them up.

I think I may have gotten everything set up tonight. I worked most of the afternoon on backlash and gear match up. I'm taking it in tomorrow to have it looked at to make sure everything is correct.
