Well now I got my new King Ranch CC 4x4. Will post some pics soon. Starting modifications, which include air suspension, 44" Trxus STS tires, 17" wide rims, large fender flares, 4.88 gear ratio and more and more...
We will use a spreader to be able to put some preload on the carrier bearings in the front Dana 60. Since I have never opened a 10.50 axle, I dont know about how this is done with that axle, but I have read that its different method from Dana 60. I will let a tech guy do this, but I just want to know .
Does anyone have instructions on how to change gear ratios on a 10.50 Ford axle.
cant wait to see that thing finished! what size lift are you gonna do ? i think you can clear 44's with a 14 inch lift , i even saw in a magazine a guy had a 12 inch lift with 44's
Well, I live in Iceland, and here we do lifts a little bit diffrently, than you do over there.
I will completly change the suspension with four link and air bags. Then we put large fender flares to tackle the widht of the tires. I already have stock steel rims modified to 17" wide. I will post more pictures soon, the modifications will start tomorrow.
Nice web about four wheeling in Iceland here:4x4offroads.com
For actual for wheeling. From November til May (may vary a bit) the highlands in Iceland are covered in snow. We modify our trucks with big tires to be able to drive on the snow. We simply let the air out so the trucks float on the snow and then you drive just where you want to go, also on the glaciers.
Couldn't get the link to work... But I've seen several trucks from Iceland and they were all done in the manner you describe. I'd like to get a set of those flares you use for my excursion. I believe there is a guy from Iceland that posts in the Bronco Forum. His truck looks great and I know you guys do some serious offroading in the kind of terrain that could be dangerous!!!
