ditch the air silencer, bump timing up, lose mufflers and cats but keep o2 sensors. Other than that headers, underdrive pulleys, electric fan. After that it starts to cost
I wouldn't bother with the pulleys...and don't take off your cats it's illegal and won't gain much unless their plugged. If they're plugged, you buy a 60 dollar high-flowing performance cat. Headers and full exhaust is a good option, MSD 6a ignitions are nice too. Big power is available with better heads.
fordeverpower...you said to ditch the air silencer? is that the smog "can" on the passenger side fender that goes to the pump? Does removing this make any difference? If this is what you are referring to, would removing it let dirt get in your engine?
on some vehicles the air tube runs to a fender or up to the hood and is quite restrictive. If you take it off up to the box you get more air to the filter. And the filter still gets all the dirt.
I put the March Power&Amp pulleys on botn of my GenI Lightnings and they make a noticeable difference.I'd advise them for a low cost mod any day.I haven't had the first charging problem.
OK, Now I know what you were talking about! That probably would get more air into the box, your right! I dont know if there would be any gain though, given the air it would pull in would be hot air from the engine compartment. Here's another idea on that line... install the "inlet" from a 460 motor, this goes to the large opening alongside the radiator and is a much larger tube than the ones on the small blocks. It fits right into the air filter box, I put a picture of a 460 inlet in my garrery for my 94 truck if you want to see one. 5 bones at the junk yard!
