I got this information from a moderator (Smokeywren) over at www.ford-diesel.com . Apparantly the F250 and F350 SRW both have Sterling 10.5", but there are internal differences to justify the higher weight rating (different bearings). I guess I'll just have to go down to my local Ford dealer parts department and confirm this with my own eyes (although I have no reason to not believe Smokeywren).

You are not dumb at all!!! These guys are all offering great advice EXCEPT none of them heard your main focus!! SOOO LONNNNGGG
If I was reading your questions correctly and you are anything like my wife, driving this beast everyday is a lot of work. My wife suffered with a suburban for many of the same reasons & a 24' boat to boot.
My suggestion would be a F-350 with either a SuperCab or Crew Cab & a 6.5' Bed.
The V-10 is plenty of power w/ a 4.10 rear axle ratio. Must haves are the towing package & the Heavy Suspension package or if you like a 4x4 then get the Snow Plow Package which will give you all of the suspensiion upgrades in 1 package.
You get all of the pulling power you need and a truck that is very road-a-ble as a daily driver and if you are used to the pounding of the suspension of a dually this will be a relief for your kindeys too!!!
I am confident that you will love the new Superduty as it is very solid and feels very good to drive and the size of even the crew cab (What we have) is not overbearing with the short bed. You can also save a few grand by going with the V-10 as apposed to the Powerstroke if you want to however the Diesel is a real work horse. It is just very heavy and you feel the difference when driving.
Good luck and never feel that your questions are DUMB just because you are a female. I ask Dumb questions every day and each day I get a little smarter, or at least I hope I do!!!!
