Tom, I do not see where you are geting this idea that there is ANYTHING difficult about installing rear gears. I myself have installed well over 1/2 dozen on my own vehicles and friends vehicles. L/Ss, Posis (yes they are slgihtly differant), opens, lockers, mini spools and full spools. There is nohting difficult about it. If anyhting the 9 inch may be the hardest to change them in that I have ever done, just cause you have to take off the front cover and yolk and what-not as compared to any other rear end.
Same gears I'm running. I got them from www.steeda.com
you can compare prices from steeda dirctly, which sells the Ford performance gears for our trucks. Might as well toss the gears in while your at it, they won't charge you for labor since they have to pull them anyway.
Jimmy,
For someone who installs them all the time, it's probably not that difficult to do. for someone who builds NASA rocket ship engines for a living, building one would probably not be hard either, but I wouldn't try it. Sometimes, if you don't really know what your doing, you can still figure it out....like my lift kit for instance. But other things, if you don't know what your doing then you should have someone who does perform the operation. Gears and carrier installs are NOT guess work, and if you don't know what your doing or have the right tools, your making trouble for yourself.
Tom's right on that one. Not everyone is at the same experience level when it comes to installing certain things. I myself wouldn't have the slightest clue where to even start when installing the gears...I don't even think I have to tools to do it! I'll definately have someone do it when the time comes.
