Thanks everyone for all the help. I have my independent mechanic rounding up all the tsb's for me. I tried alldata.com and did get a list of 40 tsb's but cannot print them or get info. It seems they can give me the list but when I attempted to view them seperate, their service only goes up to the year 98. Not good for me. I will share what I get. It seems like it is unreasonable for the dealer to deny a replacement motor after the warantee has expired. After all it was them who could not identify the problem. My problem is like others, I brought it in the service drive and had other items to be addressed and mentioned the noise. They all told me it was normal, but there is no refference to it on the service record. I will not give up. As people have mentioned, there are some dealers that do not even know about the problem. I think in my case, the dealer definetly knew but dragged me on until the warantee was expired. This seems to be the norm. I did have their top mechanic come out and listen to it and he said it's a rod and it would cost 6500. But that was at 54,000. I do have a record of it at 43,000 miles whwn I bought out the lease. They denied me an extended warantee because of the noise but still sold me the truck. Problem is they sleep like babies at night. From my experience with the dealership mechanics in Tucson, their diagnostic capabilities are let's say limited. I have yet to find a sharp one. My dealer has hidden several things about my truck from me even when I asked outright if they new of any other trucks with that problem or if the factory was aware of it. For instance the brake wear and chatter, the front rotors that I had to pay to replace. The 3 alignments and two sets of tires in the front. My brother-in -law bought a new 2000 diesel 350 extra cabdually from a broker. He had it in ford for a vibration and a noise when he turned rt or something like that, Well the dealer put 2 transmissions and two rear ends and a driveshaft in it and it still didn't fix it. He called the 1-800 ford number and a factory rep met him at the dealership and it was fixed in less than 1/2 day. The stories go on and on. I believe that if ford has identified a manufactures problem with tolerences in the pistons, they have an obligation to make it right. But thats only what I think. Somewhere out there is a dealer with a conscience. I have one in mind to persue.
