Well, I finally found a good mechanic and maybe will get better than 8mpg. For a little history I bought a used truck in December with 32,000 miles. In January when I couldn't afford to drive it I took it back to the dealer and they told me that there was no epa standard for diesel and they could not help me. I went to a recommended mechanic and I put a different air filter, 4" BD exhaust, and edge programmer. Still never got better. I was getting a oil change at the dealer and complained about the milage and they said the same as before. I had a stalling problem and took it back to the dealer and the replaced the cam position sensor and said that could be part of my problem, but with no codes and lights there should be no consumption problem. 7000 miles later I went to a transmission shop to have my gears checked and they verified my gears as 373's and said I should go see Powerstrokes of Alaska. Well he found a superchip on the computer and air leaks all over my intake and a bad MAP sensor. I think I will have to send a nice letter to FORD customer service that they sold me a waranteed vehicle with a superchip on it. And they sold me a extended warantee on top of that. I wish that I could get my 8mpg for the last 7mpg.

 

Hey Foodog, the guy at powerstroke AK seems like he knows what hes talking about and appeared to be a strait shooter. Im sure hes more capable than many others in town to work on these engines.
