If the wheels are getting hot, you have a brake problem. I would try another shop. Several things to check are the caliper piston to see if it is stuck, are the slide rails lubricated? Sometimes that will cause a brake to hang. Are the calipers installed correctly and not "cocked". You can also jack the wheel up and turn it by hand to see if it is dragging. There will be a little drag which is narmal, but if you can hardly turn the wheel by hand it is probably the brake, or possibly a really tight or bad wheel bearing. I wouldn't give up on the brake theory yet. After you had the brake job done, did your gas mileage go down?
Yeah, I'm going to have another shop look at the brakes on Monday. hreed, the mileage didn't drop right after the brake job (which was about a month ago), but last week when I first started to feel these symptoms, I did see a noticeable depreciation in my mpg.
Peter94, come to think of it, I do remember having to get on the brakes on the freeway a couple weeks back to avoid a semi that was shredding a tire and there was noticeable drag to one side.
I'll ask the next place the specifics you two have passed on.
Man these "mechanics" got me going with a head of steam right now. Just ****es me off.
