Would i get better milage with the EGR system activated, or to take it off? On my 97 chebbie, you can get in the computer and adjust from 0 - 60 percent tusage of the EGR system. Would i get better milage with 0 or 60?

Leave the EGR hooked up, you can get medium throttle pinging if you bypass it.
