For those who have removed their up pipe, I have a question. Is there enough flexibility between the EGR inlet and the up pipe outlet to EGR that I can slip in a block plate? I have seen the "sneaky pipe" but wondered if I could do the same with my existing up pipe. Also, if I keep the EGR valve plugged in, will I get a CEL. (2006 model 6.0)
I realize that is not a full delete, but my 6.0 is low milage and I'm going on the assumption that the EGR cooler has not "cooked" the coolant in the cooler long enough to have a problem.
but yes on the CEL. The later trucks and even the older trucks with newer PCM flashes...the PCM is looking for flow reports and EGR operation. So if you block the flow off, it'll throw a CEL. You will have to get a SCT tuner. You have 2 options for this.
SCT XCal (Part #3000) - Will require custom tunes
or
SCT XCal SF3 (Part #3015) - Can turn off the EGR in the settings. No custom tune required. It also comes with 3 canned tunes and can hold 3 custom tunes.
Why are you wanting to do a EGR "delete"? Is your ECT vs. EOT delta high? Do you have a Scangauge or other gauges?
My only reason for wanting to block EGR is to remove soot from the intake. Only the Gov't in its infinite wisdom has the gall to tell us to feed unfiltered exhaust into a $10,000 engine!

On the up pipe flange that connects to the EGR cooler there is a 43mm (1.700) diameter X 1/8" deep counterbored hole that a plug could be placed in and there would be no visible detection. Both flanges would be butted together, this is the sneaky way of doing it and still look legal.
