I have a 01'350 SD, reg cab V10 4x4 and want to level it out. I want to keep the stock height in the rear, but I am unsure what way to go to get the front raised. Some kits use an add-a-leaf, some replace the front springs, and some use a longer spring hanger. Adding a leaf will make my ride more stiff, so I would like to hear from somebody who has them to see how they like it. Any input would be great. JPS
Hello JPS. I found an adda aleaf kit that uses 1 leaf to give you 1"+ lift and it does'nt give you a bad ride. To get more lift you add these "short leafs" to the spring pack. They are basically just little lift blocks but they bolt to the spring pack with the spring center pin, so they can't come out. The springs are from BDS Suspension so you might be able to call them. I liked the soft add a leaf for the simple reason that i noticed some front wheel hop in low traction situations. Which is not good. Have'nt had the chance to see if they helped in that dept. yet but they don't ride rough. You hardely know they are there. I made my own "short leafs" as I work in a fab shop. Hope this helps. 2k1 250 SD EC SB 4x4 5.4

LAST EDITED ON 20-Mar-01 AT 07:14 PM (EST)[p]MMUSKY1, I see that with the add a leaf kits that they talk about a new track bar bracket and such. Did you just add your leafs and that was it? Did the spring shop make the leafs, or did they order them? How many inches of lift did you get out of the front, I have the four inch blocks in the rear and want to get level to that. Thanks, JPS.
I Just went to the spring shop and told them i want 2" in the back and level the front . The spring are a stock item any spring shop will have . as far as the trac block bushing the guy told me there was nknow need for new bushing. its been back to ford because the sway bar was loose the second time . they did'nt say anything was wrong. its hard to tell really how high it is but if you go to a good spring shop they will raise as high as you want. the guy were i went said he just did a truck like mine rase it 8" he said he did'nt recommend going higher then 4 . Good luck
Hello,
Well I have a SD, V10, CC. I first installed the front hangers and shakle kit and it raised my truck 2" and kept the stock ride.
Now I have taken that kit off and installed the Rancho 4" kit
which looks great. The 2" kit was easy to install and now Im going to sell the whole entire 2" kit. good luck and let me
know if anyone wants to install it.
Rich....
Rich,
Im lookin at the Rancho 4" for my truck (2001 250 sc v10) but i am unsure how the truck will look with 4 inches of lift and 33" tires, i dont want to go to 35s'. what size tires are u running. and how do u like the ranco kit?
Billy
I talked to Fabtech about their add-a-leaf kit for leveling out my 01' SD 350 4x4, and the guy told me that a 2001 SD cannot have any add-a-leaf kit on the front due to the crash bar that is on the front, which is new for 2001. Sure enough I looked and I have it on mine. I didn't ask the guy what the reason was but would like to know. All he wanted to do was sell me a 5.5" lift. No thanks. Anyone else hear about not being able to put an add-a-leaf on a 2001 front end? Just want to get the front up to match the back without spending a ton of money.
Billy,
I love my 4" kit I have now, it's the min lift I would go with if your going to run 35" tires. If your going to run 33" tires.
It may look a little high for that tire size. You may have too
much fender well clearance because the higher you raise it the smaller the tire looks. If I were to run 33's I would only raise it 2" in the front and then match the rear to make it level. Also I have a crew cab and a V10 which I was told at the shop makes a slight diffrence in total hight. So my 4" kit raised the front just a tick over 3 1/2" but less than 3 3/4". If you have a super cab it will be closer to 4". The rear on my truck had to go up about 2 1/4" from stock to make it dead level which was done with a factory 4" block or very close to 4" block. Also the shop I went to in So. Cal called Off Road Unlimited is very professional and they with do a great job on anything you want done. They fabricate a lot of their own parts and even make springs for whatever lift you want. Im also going to sell my superlift 2" kit which is the front shackles, hangers, trac-bar relocation bracket and shocks. Also, let me know your email and I have lots of pics of trucks with 4" to 5.5" and one of a SC 1 1/2" lift with 33's I think. My email is RSmiderle(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
Good luck. Rich
