302 = 4.95 (4.949 rounds to 4.95) which does round up to 5.0. i totally agree though. the whole 4.9/5.0 thing is very misleading. if i sat two boxes on the table, one that had a volume of 300 ci and the other 302 ci you wouldn't even see a difference. 2ci is very small. the make the 5.0 sound so much bigger because they wanted people to spend the thousand or so dollars to "upgrade". all they had to do was flash the horsepower numbers to make the people think the 5.0 had a ton more power.
We've been through this before, but the 4.92 liter six cylinder really isn't significantly different than the 4.95 liter eight cylinder as far as displacement goes. No one can tell a difference of two cubic inches, it's less than a one percent difference. Technically you can round the V-8 number to 5.0 liter by the thinnest of margins but I agree it's more a gimmick than anything else. If you want to go that route you can round anything from 4.5 on up to 5.0 and still be telling that version of the "truth".
